Stuart Allan for Grays School of Art!

Stuart has been busy beavering away on a special commission these past few months for Grays School of Art. And the subject for this commission? None other than Aberdeen olympian Hannah Miley! As well as finishing the portrait a few weeks ago Stuart also filmed a short video about his practice and his work so check em out. You can see more on the Grays School of Art blog here!

Due to the lack of exhibition space in Aberdeen ..... @ 26 Collective Studios!

Stewart Forbes Ross is hosting his second solo show since finishing his degree at Grays School of Art. "Due to a lack of exhibition space in Aberdeen my next show will be held in the back pocket of my jeans" opens for 1 night this Saturday (30th March) at 26 Collective Studios.

Stewart work primarily with pen and paper but comes from a sculpture back ground, I guess hes a good example of using what you have although his last show was a perfect example of crossing boundaries with drawings, music & performance all being parts of the show. For his up coming show he will be showing more new drawings although in what form we don't know yet and he will also be djing at the after party taking place round the corner from the studios at Sopranos Wine Bar & Bistro, re uniting the old POST crew and hopefully bringing some new friends down to the studio.

Ill be trying to carry out a proper interview with Stewart in the future but in the mean time enjoy some photos I took a …

Let It Bleed Present Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Dusky & Simian Mobile Disco!

April is fast approaching and its set to be a busy month for team Let It Bleed with not 1 but 3 events this month! Kicking things off we have TEED or Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs aka Orlando Higginbottom who will be bringing his dj skills to the turntables on Saturday 6th April at The Forum. Orlando has been pretty big on the electronic music scene for the past couple of years building up a strong following and playing some of the biggest festivals on the circuit! Along with releasing debut album "Trouble" last year he's also created some of the best remixes to grace the dance floor from Katy Perry's "Firework" to his latest remix for Foals which you can hear below! This could be the perfect way to kick out the Winter blues and get in the spring time mood! Info and tickets here!

Only a week after TEED takes on The Forum we have London production duo DUSKY gracing the stage in Snafu, bringing their deep and dark sound! You can listen to their latest mi…

The Moment Has To Arrive @ City Moves Dance Agency!

The 'The Moment Has To Arrive' was a day long event curated by Conor Baird from Grays School of Art. The days proceedings were focused on visual and performance art, an area I don't really have much knowledge about and one that I've not really bothered to look into until now. I guess with the culture bid kicking off its made me want to dig a little deeper into the cultural activities which happen across the board, my own attempt at joining the dots as there's a danger that the culture bid will stop at 4pm on Friday as that's what the salaried pay slip dictates or that there will be a reliance on makers and curators to bring their cultural wealth to the Aberdeen2017 office when the bid team should be making every effort to get out and attend these kind of events to see for themselves what we have to offer!

And 'The Moment Has To Arrive' was a perfect opportunity. I'd been asked by Peter Mcrae if I could create some audio to go along with a piece he wo…

Feltmistress Workshop @ Offset57!

I had the pleasure of meeting Feltmistress aka Louise Evans and Jonathan Edwards not once but twice in one day! Although it did involve setting up camera's and recording moving images, the first time for their lecture and the second time to document their monster making workshop which took place in the Offset57 space a few weeks ago. I'm only just making a start on the video from the evening which looked like a lot of fun, certainly the quality of the monsters being produced was very high and everyone who attended seemed to be enjoying themselves!

But on a serious note I think Nicola deserves a pretty big pat on the back as she has brought some top talents from across the illustration / design field to Aberdeen and given her students both from RGU and Aberdeen College a chance to hear their about their experiences and gain an insight into their World's! I really enjoyed chatting to Jonathan who has 20 odd years experience in the illustration world, has worked with big publ…
