Monday Mixtape # 7 - Magic Tape # 1!

If you haven't already then I highly recommend checking out The Magician. He used to be part of dancey disco stalwarts Aeroplane, now flying solo and dropping his own magical mix tape's wherever he goes, The Magician is one to definitely lift those Monday blues, if your feet aren't moving by the end of this mix then you really are dead inside! With 26 free downloadable mix tapes available from his Soundcloud page, there's enough music here to keep you going for half a year of Monday's! I just hope he plays in Scotland soon!

'From the Depths Of Your Shallow Heart, Sheshanaag Shall RISE!!' by MoC!

After spending so much time doing videos and photographs to document the mural project I thought it would be good to show off the piece I created for the show, the nucleus or the center piece for the show! Its the biggest thing I've ever painted and found with every session I learned something new and became more and more comfortable holding a paint brush.

The project really grew and developed as more artists started to come down and join in. The idea was to paint everything in black & white to keep it uniform but some red started to seep into my design which led to the idea of joining up all the work with colour and seeing the work of Moneyless inspired the string idea, a way of connecting all the work without trying to paint hundreds of perfect lines across shit surfaces! Over the 4 months I sketched things out, painted lines, white washed and painted again, spent god knows how many hours in the studio, listened  to some good dj's and most of all got the chance to hang o…

Let It Bleed Presents "RITON Halloween Special" @ The Forum!

Need I say more? Well yes I suppose I should. Let It Bleed is probably one of the biggest non student run nights in Aberdeen and always aim's to put on great nights with great acts and the Halloween Specials always a highlight. This year brings RITON to the stage along with a hoarde of local music and dj talents and hopefully a room full of ghoulish party monsters! I'm currently hunkered down making some ghastly visuals for the night, putting my own little spin on some horror classics but I'm also hoping to try my hand at set design, a new area for me but one I'm very interested in. Usually I run out of time but fingers crossed ill manage to pull everything together this year!

Also this year team Let It Bleed have joined forces with Bato Hand-Crafted to bring you a special range of Halloween inspired t shirts! These are super limited and are available from the Bato online store here, super limited, super nice! Liking their 'Scalped' poster too, need to see if I …

Junction Arts 'Mixed Winter Art Exhibition'!

Another Christmas show to get you in the mood! In fact I'm way more excited about seeing some hand made goods at Junction Arts and checking out some new artists than traipsing round the shops looking for the usual boring Christmas crap that is quickly bought and just as quickly forgotten!

If you wanna get something nice, original, hand made and different then pop into Junction Arts before December 25th and get a gift that will be treasured and not trashed by boxing day. Oh and if anyone want's to get me a gift one of the Gabi Reith 'Heelander' cushions would be pretty sweet!

Boxfresh x Moniker Art Fair London 2012!

This slick little video was produced by a mate down in London. He told me last week about how he would be filming some artists creating works around London but its only when I watched the video I realised who the artists were, Hush, Luke Chueh, Niels "Shoe" Meulman & Remi Rough to name a few! Its like when Recoat Gallery asked about maybe helping do a video for them but geogrpahy got in the way so I suggested Fraser, turns out he got to work with 2 of my favourite artists and made an excellent video for the Rudimentary Perfection show! Least I get to enjoy the fruits of their labour without having to do any work!

The Illustrated Alphabet by The Small Print!

As often happens when searching for a specific thing you stumble across a multitude of interesting images which lead onto more stumbling. A simple search for the Alphabet of LA by Donald Urquhart led to The Illustrated Alphabet by The Small Print! A modern take on the alphabet with some rather nice graphics from a host of artists and designers including Ben Newman, Nate Williams & Oliver Jeffers to name a few! I've selected some personal favourites but check out the full range on The Small Prints site and remember "H is for Hipster"!

Last year's show was rammed from floor to ceiling to act fast if you wanna secure some space. Full details can be found here, get cracking!

House of House @ Sopranos!

House of House held one of their pop up t shirt parties last Friday at my favourite new bar Sopranos! The guys had a selection of new t shirts for sale on the night along with tunes from DJ extraordinaire Giles Walker! Think everyone had a pretty good night so here's hoping they do another one soon although maybe a few more designs would be good but still some nice colour ways available!
