Mural Project Closing Party Details!

So the Mural Project is finally coming to an end after 4 months of drawing, painting, stressing and chilling!
So Friday.......

Mural - A mural is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other large permanent surface. A particularly distinguishing characteristic of mural painting is that the architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the picture.

Project - A project in business and science is typically defined as a collaborative enterprise, frequently involving research or design, that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim.[1] Projects can be further define

Sampler # 1 by SoundHoles!

Sound Holes is the brain child of Daniel Hadden. The label focuses on releasing experimental / noise music which can be at times disturbing, ear ache inducing and beautiful! Aberdeen used to have thriving noise scene, my first exposure being Noma in the Belmont Cinema bar, have you ever seen a man induce sounds from his guitar via a vibrator? Its pretty epic!
Anyway Dan is working hard on keeping his label going and has put together this harsh sampler of some of his recent releases. Its not for the faint of heart but its good to try something new, if you ever get the chance to see some noise band's then I highly recommend it, be sure to bring protection though, some of those shows can get pretty juicy! To find out more about Sound Holes check out the website HERE!

Art Exhibition @ Cellar 35!

Some snaps from the pop up Art Exhibition from a few weeks back. Featured work by Lauren Milton, Richard Maguire, Kirsty Russel, Stewart Ross, Ben Martin & Katy Stewart, the last 3 being 26 Collective peeps and Stewart performed a special acoustic set on the night which featured a great cover of "Call Me Maybe"! I just wish I'd been filming it! All photos by Lindsey Moss.

Candy For The Eyes & Ears 15! Remed, Kiasmos & Grimes!!

So here's some things which have made made my eyes & ears feel nice.
I search for some old style illustrations and life theories led to a search for Cosmogony which resulted in finding the works of Remed! Bright colours, good shapes, pattern making and cool characters all come together in such a bright and playful mess that's impossible not to like. You can find more of his work via his website and there's a nice interview in the current issue of Juztapoz magazine!

On a musical front I recently discovered a belter of a tune by Kiasmos, one part Olafur Arnalds one part Bloodgroup mastermind Janus Rasmussen. Together the pair bring out the best elements of minimal techno and create something warm and alive. You can hear the title track Thrown along with snippets of all the remixes here, I'd also highly recommend sighing up to the Erased Tapes site and downloading the free sampler

Grimes aka Claire Boucher is pretty hot right now!I picked up her album on vinyl from O…

Mural Project Part 1 from 26 Collective Studios on Vimeo.

Finally got the first 20 odd hours of footage edited into some kind of documentation of the ongoing Mural Project. So far we've had 16 artists and 6 DJs involved. Been so many great nights hanging out with good people, big love to you all! The project will be wrapping up at the end of August where we will be heading to Soprano's for some celebratory drinks with DJ Bad Panda, roll on the 31st of August!

Let It Bleed x Dirty Hearts Club @ Snafu!

If your feeling like Summer just hasn't come this year then fear not, nothing says summer like dancing and there's no better place to dance then at a Dirty Hearts Club night, Steven Milne with his indie disco inclination has always managed to get my feet moving! Throw in Let It Bleed resident Giles Walker and you have the makings of a pretty awesome night! So be sure to add LIB vs DHC on Friday 10th August to your to do list!

Also not content with one shiny poster the guys have produced 4 designs, any preferences? I think the second one down wins it for me, blue skys, fluffy clouds, it must be summer!!!
