Dirty Hearts Club is the love child of Steve Milne and friends. Their ethos is pretty simple, good music, good bands and good times. For 5 years they have been bringing big names and fresh talent to Aberdeen and don't seem to be letting up! Although Birthday headliners We Were Promised Jet Packs were forced to cancel the guys showed their might by securing a quick replacement guest in the shape of Scott from Frieghtend Rabbit!
The night kicked off with JJ Bull, I'd heard the name but not the tunes and I was pleasently suprised! The inclusion of some violin / fiddle made for a rather interesting opening set and certainly good the good vibes going. Next up were The Little Kicks (The Tiny Kicks as one One Up regular calls them) were next on the bill, playing a mixture of old and new material. They certainly have something worth listening too and managed to get the crowd warmed up enough for the headliner.
After eventually making his way through the crowd, Scott instantly captured everyone's attention. I'd spoken to him a minute before about Moose as it was through him that I got into Frieghtend Rabbit so I wanted to share that story with him and he kindly dedicated one of the songs to him, mid song as he forgot about Good Arms vs Bad Arms but the sentiment was enough to bring a tear to my eye. Definately a good lad and he played a blinding set.
To round off the night the stage was cleared, LCD was played and the drinks flowed freely all night! Friday wasn't so good, hungover, tired and a full day of work ahead but birthdays like that only come once a year so you have to make the effort or else whats the point!
Special thanks to Mo & Steve for their help!
